Huckleberry Finn, Huck for short, is a little boy with a big mind. The book impacted me with the way it made me feel connected. I felt Huck's worries and problems in subtle ways but still so strong. Everytime Huck talked about his dad, it almost seemed like it was no big deal to Huck (the way it was written) but when i actually read it I couldn't help but feel scared for the little guy. During the time when his dad is drunk and trying to kill Huck, he writes it like it was nothing! I know for sure if i was in that situation that I would be very terrified. Like I said, I feel connected with Huck because he makes me feel brave.

There are two ways to describe Huck: carefree and smart. These two characteristics coexist with each other. Whenever he is being carefree, he is smart about it. On the other hand, whenever he is being smart about something, it won't be too long before it turns carefree. When they swim to shore and get captured, Huck is loved by a family. He obviously loves it, but he also wants to be carefree again and go on the river. He knows Jim is a slave again, and he knows they have to get out together. Huck realizes that Jim is the one who loves him, and Huck loves Jim. Together they can be carefree with a purpose. That is what i will call it.

As much as the novel was adventurous and exciting, it is also clever and written close to perfection. No, this novel is not perfect, but that is what I love about it! Huck is not perfect, and everyone of the characters have their own little unperfect story. And I am alright about that. And I think every one of us can take something away from Huck.
